Florida City, where the sun shines all year long, is considered as one of the top vacation destinations in the United States. Considered as the metropolitan area of South Florida, its population escalated from a mere thousand to millions in just a few years. In 2007, the population of the city was 5,413,212. But if you will check the records of the US Census Bureau, in 2000 there were only 7,843 residents and in 2004 it increased to 8,363. The city has a colorful culture brought about by the mixture of Cuban and Haitian culture.

During the earlier times, the location of the current city sits a limestone ridge. However, in the 1900s, it was leveled and the area was converted into farmland. The Long Slough was then created, a slow-moving body of water, which originated in the Everglades. Later on, progress started to form Florida City, most parts of the slough was filled to create more spaces for infrastructures and roads. Now, the skyline of Florida City is filled with buildings and other structures.

Florida is famous for its wonderful attractions. On top of the list is the famous Florida Everglades. Teeming with wildlife, native trees, and plants make Everglades an ultimate adventure wherein one can commune with nature. There are a number of activities that one can do while visiting this nature park. One can go canoeing, kayaking, trekking, bird watching, and many more. Various tours are available to get to see and experience its 9 eco-system.

If you are into shopping, then Florida City will not fail to satiate that urge to spend. There are a number of outlets and stores located in open malls. Most of these malls are designed to recreate that tropical feel with its architectural designs and structure. If you are a bit tired from all that shopping, you can stop by at cafes and restaurants to get your fill and a boost for that needed energy.

You can also visit various museums and art galleries in the city. There are a number of parks, where one can relax and just absorb that tropical feel and soak in the warm rays of the sun. After a long tiring day, you can rest at numerous hotels, inns, and chalets. There are luxurious boutique hotels that you will truly enjoy.

Traveling in and out of the city will not be a problem. Miami International Airport is quite near and can be easily accessed from Florida City.
